T'was a time when I was out there gigging 6 or 7 nights a week,
having a ball and counting the cash. Now, being a broken down old fart
I only stumble outside occasionally to inflict some noise on the locals.
We have a great culture in my town of musicians getting together for Open
Mic nights, acoustic nights, etc, where everyone can try out amidst
a very supportive atmosphere. I try to get along to as many as possible
but am often not well enough to make it so, if any of you are planning
to go to one to see me, check with the me at the last minute to make
sure I'll be there. Or just go along anyway and join in the fun!
Regular Nights:
~Every Tuesday Night is Acoustic Night at 'The Pilot'.
The Pilot Inn, The Greens, Berwick-upon-Tweed; starts after 9pm till closing
What it says on the tin: no mikes, no amplification, just acoustic voices and instruments. A mix of all types of music: folk, pop, jazz, rock, blues, ragtime and self-penned numbers. A great, friendly, encouraging atmosphere led by some regulars and a cycle of guests who pop in when they can. Contributers range in age from teens to veterans.

The Bar, The Maltings Theatre & Arts Centre, Berwick-upon-Tweed; 2nd Sunday of every month; 7.30pm for 8.00
Organised by the great Michael Richardson and hosted by 'Mad Bob', a complete mix of styles, ages and abilities, reviewed every month in 'The Berwick Advertiser', a great melting pot.

A new departure for our town we're mxing in art exhibits with poetry with songwriting and whatever goes and hoping to lead to new regular themed creative days.We'll be having workshops and I'll be at the Creative Writing Table when I'm not popping downstairs to sing at the Open Mic on the same night!
